55 climate leaders championing bold, practical and ambitious climate solutions including Ministers, Mayors, industry leaders and investors spoke on the Forum’s Main Stage.
A programme of official side events ran alongside the Climate Innovation Forum, organised by a range of diverse and influential partners including FCDO, Race to Zero, Kite Insights, Global Covenant of Mayors and KPMG
Alongside the Forum we are hosting official side events on 28 June, creating a hub for engagement in the heart of the city of London. Event partners include Race to Zero, Global Covenant of Mayors, and KPMG.
The Expo will featured a selection of Climate Action’s partners that offer innovative solutions or demonstrate bold approaches to delivering net zero, plus, the Breakthrough Innovation Hub will showcase promising climate tech start-ups from across the UK.
The Climate Innovation Forum hosted the LCAW Secretariat’s own flagship event in Guildhall – on Tuesday 27 June – celebrating the 5th annual London Climate Action Week, to which all sponsors and partners for the Climate Innovation Forum are invited to attend.
The Climate Innovation Forum returned for the fifth year as a flagship event of London Climate Action Week. Taking place on Wednesday 28 June in Guildhall – at the heart of London’s finance district – the event will brought together senior public and private sector decision makers to help turbocharge our transition to net zero.
Organised by Climate Action, the Climate Innovation Forum 2023 brought together policy makers, investors, climate-tech solution providers, business leaders and innovation catalysers to help achieve our net zero ambitions regionally, nationally and globally, whilst maximising the role of innovation in delivering net zero growth opportunities.
Angela Wilkinson is the 6th Secretary General and CEO of the World Energy Council, a diverse community network of over 3,000 member organisations that has been instrumental in promoting better energy developments in over 100 countries for nearly 100 years. Dr Wilkinson has led the Council since 2019 as it defines, enables and accelerates successful energy transitions through its unique network, practical insights and leadership dialogues. She has over 35 years of experience in leading national and international multi-stakeholder transformation initiatives on a wide range of global energy, climate and sustainable development related challenges. Previous roles include Board-level and senior executive responsibilities in the public-, private-, academic- and civic-sectors. She is also a published author.
The Rt Hon Chris Skidmore MP has been the MP for Kingswood since 2010. He has served in five government departments between 2015 and 2020 including as Minister of State for Universities, Science, Research and Innovation twice between 2018 and 2020. In 2019, he was also appointed Minister of State for Energy and Clean Growth, attending Cabinet, during which time he signed the UK’s commitment to Net Zero by 2050 into law, and helped secure the UK Presidency of COP26. Most recently, he served as the Chair of the Government’s Independent Net Zero Review, and published the 340 page ‘Mission Zero’ report in January 2023. He is currently Chair of the All Party Group on the Environment and is also a Senior Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
Susan Aitken was elected as Leader of Glasgow City Council in 2017, forming Glasgow’s first ever SNP-led City Government. She was first elected as a councillor for the Langside ward in 2012, following a career in public policy and communications. Susan was reappointed to a second term as Council Leader following the 2022 Scottish Local Government elections. Under her leadership, Glasgow has hosted the UN Climate Summit COP26. She was awarded Scottish Local Politician of the Year in 2019 for her work to end historic gender pay discrimination and Scottish Council Leader of the Year in 2021 for her leadership on climate issues. Susan was selected as one of 40 global city leaders for the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative Class of 2023.
Mark Carney is currently the UN Special Envoy for Climate Action and Finance and Co-Chair for the Glasgow Finance Alliance for Net Zero, a practitioner-led coalition working to increase the financial sector’s ambition on climate change and accelerate the transition to a net-zero economy. Mark is a member of the Arnhold Distinguished Fellowship Program Board within Conservation International.
Mark was previously Governor of the Bank of England (from 2013 to 2020), and Governor of the Bank of Canada (from 2008 to 2013). Internationally, Mark was Chair of the Financial Stability Board (from 2011 to 2018), He chaired the Global Economy Meeting and Economic Consultative Committee of the Bank for International Settlements (from 2018-2020) and was First Vice-Chair of the European Systemic Risk Board (from 2013-2020). Mark is also an external member of Stripe’s Board, a global technology company building economic infrastructure for the internet.
He is Chair of Brookfield Asset Management and Chair of the Chatham House Panel of Senior Advisers. Mark is a member of the Global Advisory Board of PIMCO, the Group of Thirty, the Foundation Board of the World Economic Forum, as well as the boards of Bloomberg Philanthropies, the Peterson Institute for International Economics, The Hoffman Institute for Global Business and Society at INSEAD and Senior Counselor to Macro Advisory Partners.
Mark was born in Fort Smith, Northwest Territories, Canada in 1965. After growing up in Edmonton, Alberta, he obtained a bachelor degree in Economics from Harvard and a masters and doctorate Degrees in Economics from Oxford. After a thirteen-year career with Goldman Sachs, Mark was appointed Deputy Governor of the Bank of Canada in 2003. In 2004, he became Senior Associate Deputy Minister of Finance. He held this position until his appointment as Governor of the Bank of Canada in February 2008.
Shevaun became Director General of BCC at the end of April 2021. She joined BCC from the Cabinet Office where she led Business Partnerships. She joined the Government in 2016 and also ran the Inclusive Economy Partnership for HMG.
Shevaun started her career in consultancy in London and New York. She then moved to the Walt Disney Company in strategic planning before joining Disneyland Paris, opening the second theme park. Shevaun then joined the agency world, running global accounts for Millward Brown, Mindshare and WPP.
Following this, she became a partner in a start-up digital innovation agency and venture builder, Independents United, where she also became an Advisor for the Danson Foundation. Most recently, Shevaun was the New Ventures Director for Avado, building new businesses in Edtech and founding the Academy of Digital Business Leaders.
Shevaun has a passion for business as a force for good. She is a social impact investor, sits on the Ventures Advisory Board of UnLtd, and is Trustee of Barefoot College International as well as a board member of Women of the World Foundation

London Climate Action Week (LCAW2023), 24 June – 02 July, is one of the world’s largest independent climate change events, bringing local and global experts from across sectors to London.
The week itself is made up of hundreds of independent events where leaders, experts and community representatives tackle climate issues, share their knowledge and develop practical solutions both within their sectors and across the wider real economy.
As an independent event, it is the place for everyone to come together to discuss the hard issues and have debates that you can’t have anywhere else. London Climate Action Week showcases London as a leading example of how the whole of society can come together to shape and drive climate action.
