The Sustainable Innovation Forum 2023 unites sustainability leaders from business, government, finance, and civil society to create the leading multi-stakeholder event during COP 28.

Adnan Javed is the General Manager for Trane Commercial business Middle East & Africa. In his role as General Manager, he is responsible for sales and operations of Trane offices and distributors across the MEA region but most importantly his job is to lead the team to live the purpose of Trane Technologies which is “Boldy Challenge what is possible for a sustainable world”. Under his leadership Trane MEA has managed to bring many innovative products and services to customers helping them operate their buildings more sustainably. Prior to his current role, Adnan held multiple leadership roles in sales and product management over his 18 years career with Trane. Adnan holds an MBA degree from University of Manchester and B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, Pakistan.
Ahmed Patel is a seasoned executive leader with a wealth of experience in steering business strategy, technology, internal audit and risk management. His distinguished career trajectory has equipped him with invaluable insights into effective change management and the critical commercial factors involved in implementing risk mitigation strategies. Notably, Ahmed’s dedication to environmental sustainability shines through in his pivotal role in establishing Solutions Plus as the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) vehicle for Mubadala. His contributions span the entire spectrum of ESG services, encompassing consulting, sustainable procurement, technology integration and carbon offset initiatives. His passion for preserving the environment is a driving force behind these efforts. Ahmed’s academic background is equally impressive, holding a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics, which underscores his strong foundation in technology and analytical thinking. Complementing this, he possesses a master’s degree in business administration, endowing him with the strategic vision necessary to guide organisations to success. With his extensive expertise and unwavering commitment to environmental responsibility, Ahmed Patel is a prominent figure in the business landscape, spearheading positive change in both strategy and sustainability.
Ms. Ahunna Eziakonwa is UNDP Assistant Administrator, Assistant Secretary General and Director of the Regional Bureau for Africa – the institution’s largest – with a staff corps of over 5000 working in 46 Sub – Saharan African countries with an annual $1.2 billion budget. Her passion for preserving the dignity of Africa defines her leadership approach which focuses on equality, inclusion, reshaping narratives on Africa, and mobilizing for young entrepreneurs. Her vision is contained in “Africa’s Promise: The UNDP Renewed Strategic Offer in Africa.” It employs an opportunity lens to development practice – investing in accelerators and foundational enablers that unlock opportunity across Africa. She established the Africa Influencers for Development (AI4Dev) as a private sector engagement platform galvanizing initiatives to ensure that Africa’s Money works for Africa’s Development; the Africa Young Women Leaders Initiative; Africa Innovates Magazine; and the Africa Borderlands Centre. She (Co) Chairs the UN Regional Collaborative Platform providing strategic leadership on implementation of the UN Secretary General’s reforms in Africa. Ms. Eziakonwa spent 10 years as UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Ethiopia, Uganda, and Lesotho and as Chief (Africa) at UN OCHA, led response to natural disasters, emergencies and transitions to recovery. Before the UN, Ms. Eziakonwa worked for “Initiatives of Change” serving as international coordinator of its’ “Creators of Peace – Women’s Initiative”. She is an alumni of Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, Harvard Kennedy School Executive Programme and has a Bachelors in Education from University of Benin Nigeria.
Alexandra Bocșe is a State Adviser and heads the Department of Climate and Sustainability within the Presidential Administration. The department performs analysis functions, recommends measures and helps set the national direction in the areas of green transition, adaptation to climate change, green finance and environmental and climate education. Prior to joining the Presidential Administration, Alexandra Bocșe worked in analysis and research in the fields of Energy Governance and International Political Economy of the Environment and Climate within academic and intergovernmental organizations (University of Cambridge, LSE, European institutions and the UN system, etc.). Alexandra Bocșe graduated in 2017 with a PhD from the University of Cambridge with a dissertation on energy governance in the European context.
Alexia Kelly has worked for more than 17 years at the intersection of policy and finance to address the climate crisis. Alexia currently serves as Managing Director of the Carbon Policy and Markets Initiative (CPMI) at High Tide Foundation. The CPMI accelerates ambitious climate action and capital mobilization through robust rules and guidance for voluntary corporate action and disclosures, and by building the next generation of high-integrity carbon and environmental services markets. In this role she serves on the Board of the Integrity Council for Voluntary Carbon Markets (IC VCM) and on the Board of the Advanced and Indirect Mitigation Initiative, as well as on the Expert Advisory Group of the Voluntary Carbon Markets Integrity Initiative (VCMI). Prior to joining High Tide Foundation, she served as Director of Net Zero + Nature at Netflix, where she led the company’s inaugural greenhouse gas inventory, renewable energy strategy, Science Based Target and global carbon credit portfolio. Previously, she worked at the U.S. Department of State, where she served as lead negotiator to the UNFCCC on Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. She has also held senior roles at the World Resources Institute, The David and Lucille Packard Foundation, The Climate Trust, and in private equity. She currently serves on the Board of Craft3, a non-profit Community Development Finance Institute focused on equitable access to finance, and as the Global Co-Chair of the Global Climate Action Partnership. She resides in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with her husband and two children.
Amy leads our global Sustainability & Climate Change strategy. Prior to this Amy held a number of leadership roles with Marsh’s Global Energy, Power & Renewables business. Amy started her career as an environmental consultant, largely providing advice and guidance to regulatory bodies. In her current role Amy has created a multi-award winning ESG risk rating tool and leads our advisory to clients on climate risk and ESG strategy for both financial institutions and the real economy. She leads Marsh’s engagement with global insurers to drive the development of insurance products that support the transition and reward sustainability.
Andrea Khanjin is Ontario’s newly appointed Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, and the Member of Provincial Parliament for Barrie-Innisfil. At the age of four, Andrea immigrated to Canada with her grandparents to Barrie. She is proud to be the first female Progressive Conservative Jewish cabinet Minister in Ontario’s history. Andrea is no stranger to the environment portfolio. She formerly served as the Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks from 2018-2022, and successfully introduced an Act to proclaim the Provincial Day of Action on Litter which takes place every second Tuesday in May each year. She is also the longest serving Deputy Government House Leader for the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario since 2019. In addition, she has served as the Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, and Deputy Government Whip. Andrea lives in Innisfil with her husband Kevin and 2-year-old son Oliver.
Having delivered a TEDx talk, dozens of keynotes and moderating numerous panel discussions (including in the Houses of Parliament), Andrew is an experienced speaker, moderator and compere. In addition to his role at Planet Mark, he Chairs the Institute of Directors National Sustainability Taskforce and teaches a module of the European Board Diploma on Net Zero Governance and the Role of the Board. He sits on a UK Government Advisory Board for the UK Business Climate Hub, and is Co-Chair of the Policy Group for Project Perseus with Bankers for Net Zero and Icebreaker One. He is well versed in communication, policy and governance issues relating to sustainability, with substantial expertise in the practical steps that businesses and supply chains need to take to achieve net zero.
