Climate Implementation Summit

The COP30 Presidency placed implementation at the center of its vision, recognizing the crucial role of non-state actors and reinforcing the concept of a collective effort towards achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement. By calling on society to engage in a “mutirão,” it not only drew on Brazil’s traditions of solidarity and shared responsibility, but also invited companies, financial institutions, philanthropies, and society at large to move forward together in practical actions to tackle climate change.

In this context, COP30 became more than just a conference among nations; it represented a major opportunity for global mobilization of real economy actors to reaffirm the ten-year milestone of the Paris Agreement and inaugurate a new paradigm for the climate agenda. As emphasized in the Presidency’s letters, the spirit of the COPs served to articulate, coordinate, and generate cohesion among the various global efforts that shared the same goal: to make the planet a place of prosperity for future generations.

The Climate Implementation Summit was designed as a strategic platform to showcase real-world solutions and materialize the spirit of collective effort and implementation championed by the COP30 Presidency. In alignment with the pillars of the Action Agenda and the Baku-to-Belém Roadmap, the event showcased the ambition and action of the private sector through concrete cases of solutions and investments, in a cohesive, coordinated, and articulated manner.

Held in São Paulo on Saturday, 8 November, immediately following the COP Leaders’ Summit and just before the start of COP30 in Belém on 10 November, the Summit was strategically positioned to create a powerful momentum of collective support and a positive sense of hope, possibility, and delivery. It convened leaders from companies, financial institutions, philanthropies, and associations to support the COP30 Action Agenda and highlight 30 transformative solutions already underway that were shifting the trajectory of climate change.

The Climate Implementation Summit on 8 November united stakeholders ahead of COP30 to amplify solutions that delivered transformational progress in the fight against climate change.
