The Sustainable Finance Forum will be held on 6 December in Dubai, UAE.
Hosted by Climate Action, the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) and UN Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), the event will be one of the biggest finance sector events held alongside COP28.
As a key platform for open dialogue with the finance sector, the event will provide 400 participants the opportunity to enhance collaboration, foster dialogue, promote clear standards, and drive sustainable practices across assets classes and portfolios.
The PRI and UNEP FI will bring to the table banks, insurers and investors for discussions on decarbonization, as well as pioneering work on nature and biodiversity, adaptation, the Just Transition and leading research and best practices to identify, measure, disclose, and manage sustainability risks in the financial sector.
Our goal is to align sustainable finance with the real economy and enable a just transition to a net-zero, nature positive global economy.
Blue Zone accreditation is not required for this free-to-attend event.
The Sustainable Finance Forum will feature 50 world-class speakers including Institutional Investors, Government Officials, Business Leaders, UN Dignitaries, and NGOs, amongst other leading financial stakeholders.
Martin Moloney joined the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) in September 2021 as Secretary General. Prior to joining IOSCO, Martin was Director General of the Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC) and before that he worked as a Special Adviser on Risk and Regulation to the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI), where he served for 16 years, previously heading up the Markets Policy, Markets Supervision, and Legal and Finance Divisions respectively. Prior to joining the CBI, Martin worked for brief periods in the Department of Justice and the Irish Competition Authority, and spent ten years working in the Irish Department of Finance in positions of responsibility in relation to both national and semi-State debt management and the sale of State banks. Martin spent his early career working in Industry at Barclays Bank and the Bank of Ireland in London. Martin has an LLM in Business Law and a Masters qualification in Economic Policy, both from Trinity College Dublin. He has Postgraduate Diplomas in Arbitration, Regulatory Management and has completed professional examinations of the Chartered Institutes of Bankers and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
Aaron joins the Climate Safe Lending Network with 20 years of experience building and growing social and environmental impact organizations. From engaging startups to navigating global organizations and complex networks of partnerships–Aaron has led programs in 40 countries. Aaron has worked with JP Morgan Chase, UBS, MacArthur Foundation, Boeing, Cisco, Google, and many other institutions on philanthropic initiatives to advance global impact and address the UN SDGs. With expertise in program and organizational design, change management, building adaptive systems-based solutions, and with a decade of executive leadership and managing boards, Aaron seeks to cultivate transformation and accelerate progress towards a climate safe future. Aaron previously served as Executive Director of The Experiment in International Living, Vice President for Innovation and Advancement at World Learning, as Executive Director at The Columbia Gorge Ecology Institute and Director of Programs for the Catalina Island Conservancy. Aaron holds a doctorate in Education and Sustainability.
James is a sustainability strategist and systems thinker with a background of twenty-five years senior management experience in sustainable finance and business. He has provided leadership for organisations and projects and served on a wide range of business and charity boards and governing bodies. James is CEO of RePattern.org, supporting organisations and their stakeholders in effective ecosystem innovation for sustainability transformation. He is the Chief Catalyst of the Climate Safe Lending Network – a multistakeholder initiative to catalyse the decarbonisation of the banking sector. Through RePattern, James is a strategy advisor to a number of regenerative agriculture-tech companies and has led the development of a Nature-based Solutions (NbS) Accelerator for WWF. James was previously Group Director of Strategy for Triodos Bank – Europe’s leading international sustainable bank and investment manager). In his career at Triodos, James set up and managed the UK investment business comprising corporate finance and crowdfunding services, venture capital fund management and fund distribution.
Dr Nicola Ranger is co-chair of the Resilient Planet Hub and Director of the Resilient Planet Finance Lab. She is also Executive Director of the Oxford Martin Systemic Resilience Programme and leads the Resilience and Development programme of the Environmental Change Institute at the University of Oxford. Nicola specialises in the role of finance in sustainability, resilience and inclusive development. She works extensively in emerging and developing economies and globally with financial institutions, Central Banks, Governments and International Finance Institutions both to mobilise finance for resilience and sustainability goals and to develop solutions to build resilience globally to shocks. Her research covers climate, nature, resilience, adaptation and the SDGs with a strong finance, macro and public policy lens. Nicola also holds multiple advisory roles, including as a member of the European Commission High Level Expert Group on Sustainable Investment in Low and Middle Income Economies, an Academic Visitor at the Bank of England and more. Prior to joining Oxford, Nicola held senior roles in the World Bank and DFID (now FCDO) to strengthen fiscal and financial resilience to climate and crises, mobilise finance for resilience and put in place local, national and international systems to strengthen resilience to shocks and crises. In 2017, Nicola established the Centre for Disaster Protection in the UK and from 2021 to 2023 was involved in founding and acted as Deputy Director and Director of Climate and Environmental Analytics at the Centre for Greening Finance and Investment. Nicola also has a professional background in insurance and catastrophe risk modelling and has been involved in establishing insurance-based mechanisms, contingent financing and regional risk pools protecting multiple countries. Nicola began her career as a scientific adviser at HM Treasury, Defra and the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology in the UK and was the lead scientist on the Stern Review on the Economics of Climate Change. She completed her postdoctoral research in climate economics and policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science and holds a doctorate in Atmospheric Physics from Imperial College London.
Tomo Ishikawa is Chief Regulatory Engagement Officer at MUFG. Ishikawa is responsible for orchestrating MUFG’s group-wide advocacy strategy on financial regulatory policies, including prudential requirements and climate change. He oversees recovery/resolution planning for the group, and government relations across the regions. Prior to his current role, Ishikawa headed MUFG’s Government and Regulatory Affairs (August 2018 – March 2023) based in Tokyo, and MUFG’s Regulatory Strategy for the EMEA region (March 2017 – July 2018) based in London.
