2025 Agenda

The Climate Implementation Summit showcased the ambition and action of the private sector through concrete examples of successful innovation, solutions and investments. The mainstage programme was based on the six axes of the COP30 Presidency’s Action Agenda and included thematic blocks each with an introduction from an Industry Partner, a high-level panel with CEOs and industry experts, and presentations of selected transformational solutions. These thematic blocks were complemented by high-level opening and closing addresses from global thought leaders.

In addition to the plenary, the Summit included a series of roundtables and side events all dedicated to showcasing solutions that are positively shifting the trajectory of climate change. Together, they will created a powerful platform showcasing collective action and demonstrating hope, possibility and delivery.

High-Level Dialogue 2:The Power of the Private Sector to Collectively Deliver Climate Solutions

As COP30 marks a decisive shift from negotiation to implementation, the agreements reached in Belém must now translate into credible business cases in boardrooms. This session designed by WBCSD will spotlight the new era ambitious business leaders are entering – defined by a pivot from isolated initiatives to aligned execution across entire value chains and in partnership with governments.

Leaders from business, finance, and government will explore together the shift from pledges to proof, focusing on the concrete actions that generate both economic value and measurable climate impact, ranging from demand-side policies and credible data systems to delivery-focused partnerships. Panellists will share how leading companies are turning ambition into execution, where coalitions are accelerating progress, and what is needed from COP30 to connect corporate action with national implementation – creating a reinforcing cycle of policy certainty, capital allocation, and market uptake. The outcome aimed for: A shared implementation agenda to scale emissions reductions, faster.

Action Agenda Session 1 - Finance and Insurance as Critical Enablers and Accelerators of Climate Action | Introduction

Climate finance is growing faster than ever, driven mainly by private capital. However, a significant financing gap persists. Despite progress, current emissions pathways still point to a 3.2°C temperature rise. A 4x investment scale-up is required.

In addition to the increase in capital flows, there are distribution challenges, as certain regions and sectors are not getting the funding they need for mitigation and adaptation efforts.

This session will explore what are the barriers to unlock finance to emerging and developing economies, how to unlock them and the role of the insurance industry as a critical piece to enable capital to flow.
