About this event

The biggest global challenge we face today is scaling credible climate action. We need to implement effective policies that work locally while also aligning to international climate goals, such as those of the Paris Agreement. Doing so requires robust climate governance and effective delivery mechanisms.

The biggest global challenge we face today is scaling credible climate action. We need to implement effective policies that work locally while also aligning to international climate goals, such as those of the Paris Agreement. Doing so requires robust climate governance and effective delivery mechanisms.

A powerful market mechanism already exists to provide governance and enable credible action. This internationally recognised system of standards, measurement and accredited conformity assessment (i.e., assurance), referred to as ‘Quality infrastructure’, is a collaboration of public and private bodies tasked with developing consensus-based best practice and providing trust and market confidence. Such standards, measurement and assurance bodies operate in many countries, are recognised by their governments, and crucially, also coordinate their activities internationally to deliver inclusive global governance tools that enable trade flows and underpin the exchange of products, services and innovations across borders. When strategically mobilised, the Quality Infrastructure system can provide trust and credibility in net zero actions and advance global net zero efforts at scale.

The UK’s government-appointed National Quality Infrastructure bodies – BSI and UKAS, are delighted to invite you to join them for a reception – to learn more about this incredibly powerful but behind-the-scenes system critical to delivering our collective climate goals.
