What happened at the Innovation Zone?

The Innovation Zone’s packed five-day programme included Climate Action’s Flagship Forums, over 50 side events hosted by our partners, workshops and roundtables, an exhibition of climate solutions, the immersive Climate Action Stage, the interactive Climate Challenge Labs, the Conduit Lounge, the SIDS-focused Island Stage, plus meeting rooms, cafes, private networking events and dinners. With so much going on, the accessible Innovation Zone was an ideal place to learn, network, share, convene and do business at COP28.


Showcased startups and scaleups plus proven technologies, solutions and services that can accelerate the speed and scale of the low carbon transition and building climate resilience.

Climate Action Stage

Was a stylish, immersive stage featuring a compelling programme of conversations exploring how, together, we can move from promises to progress and deliver a net zero, nature-positive equitable future.

Island Stage

An extensive daily conference dedicated to catalysing innovation, partnerships and finance to secure a sustainable future for small island states and climate vulnerable regions at COP28.

Sustainable Innovation Forum

4-5 December

The leading multistakeholder sustainability conference alongside COP28, brought together 1,000 global climate leaders to promote transformative innovation and tangible climate action to help us go further, faster together.

Sustainable Finance Forum

6 December

Ran in partnership with UNEP FI and PRI as one of the biggest finance sector events at COP, convening banks, insurers and investors to accelerate a nature-positive, net-zero, and equitable global economy.

Hydrogen Transition Summit

7 December

Climate Action’s fourth annual  Hydrogen Transition Summit  united 500 stakeholders from the hydrogen supply chain to accelerate the partnerships, policy and finance needed to drive the global hydrogen agenda.

Agri-Food Systems Summit

8 December

Ran in technical collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (UN FAO), the event catalysed innovation to transform global agri-food systems for a sustainable, resilient future at COP 28.

Roundtables & Workshops

6 December

A series of roundtables and workshops were hosted by our partners throughout the week exploring tangible solutions to our most pressing climate challenges.

UK Climate Action Forum

6 December

Was a collaborative event to showcase the UK’s pioneering climate solutions and services, and share replicable and investible examples that will benefit the UK but can also be tailored and exported abroad.

Side Events

The Innovation Zone hosted numerous side events for partners including the US Chambers of Commerce, Bain & Co and NYU Abu Dhabi.

Private Functions

Stylish and lavish rooms plus atmospheric terraces hosted private breakfasts, dinners and drinks receptions for partners to entertain, with five-star catering from the Madinat Jumeirah hotel.

Conduit Lounge

Hosted by The Conduit, the Lounge was an exclusive space for high-level guests to relax, work and connect – with comfortable seating, workstations, private meeting spaces and complimentary coffee.
